Police Captain Casey Moilanen said officers were dispatched to the grocery store on the report of a disturbance around 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Responding officers reported seeing a large crowd gathered near the store entrance. That’s where they arrested 21-year-old Eugene Washington of Rochester by ordering him to the ground and removing the replica firearm from his person.

Moilanen said the incident appeared to stem from an altercation over parking between Washington, a 33-year-old woman, 34-year-old man and friend of Washington’s. Washington is accused of waving the handgun at the man and woman during the dispute.

While being arrested, Moilanen said officers found 27 M30 pills likely laced with fentanyl on Washington. He was then brought to the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center and could soon face charges of felony threats of violence and third-degree possession of a controlled substance.
