A news release issued by the police department Tuesday afternoon says officers executed a search warrant as part of the investigation around 4 p.m. Monday. Officers obtained the warrant after receiving information that guns were present with the teens in the basement of the targeted residence.

Upon searching the home in the 1400 block of Sunset Ave. Southeast, officers reported recovering a 9mm handgun with an extended magazine, blue laser and no identifiable serial number, which police say is known as a ghost gun. Officers also seized a 12 gauge pump shotgun.

Police say two of the teens, a 16-year-old boy from Plainview and 16-year-old boy from Rochester, were transported and booked into the juvenile detention center in Anoka County on suspicion of possessing a firearm under the age of 18

The Plainview teen was also booked on suspicion of obstructing the legal process and on an active arrest warrant. Police say the Rochester teen also had an active probation apprehension order.

The two other teens, both described as 15-year-old boys from Rochester, were cited for obstructing the legal process and were turned over to their parents.
