Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) -  The members of the Rochester School Board have postponed a vote on a pay raise for themselves.

The agenda for last night's meeting included a discussion about increasing the annual stipend paid to the elected officials, which has been unchanged since 1985 at $7200 a year. School Board members first began receiving a stipend in 1976 when it was set at $3600.

An ad hoc committee met earlier this year and recommended the stipend be increased to $16,000 a year for all members of the School Board. The plan would add another $1600 a year to the stipend paid to the School Board President. Those figures reflect what the stipend would be if regular adjustments had been made for annual cost of living increases. The higher amount for the Board President represents a 10 percent premium linked to the additional duties of the person holding the position.

A decision on the issue was tabled until a future meeting to allow for additional discussion.
