
Rochester Man Charged in Decade-Old Child Sex Assault Case

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A Rochester man has been charged in a sex assault that's alleged to have happened about 10 years ago.

That’s according to a criminal complaint filed in Olmsted County Court on Thursday. Rochester police began investigating the case this past February.
The victim told law enforcement she was in elementary school when she was sexually abused by a family friend, according to the court document.

43-year-old Juan Guillermo Navarro-Carvajal is charged with one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.
The complaint indicates he was in his early 30’s when he allegedly sexually assaulted the 9-year-old victim at his home in southeast Rochester.
She indicated the alleged sexual assault occurred in 2014-2015 when her family would visit Navarro-Carvajal’s family home on Sundays after religion, according to the court document.

Navarro-Carvajal is being charged by summons. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance in October.
