Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester police officer was bitten by a wanted teenager Wednesday inside one of Mayo Clinic’s main buildings.

Police Capt. John Sherwin says a patrol officer spotted the 17-year-old riding a bicycle near the Mayo Building around 6:30 PM. The teen ditched his bike and took off on foot, running inside the Gonda Building. The officer gave chase and apprehended the teen with the help of a Mayo employee.

Sherwin says during a struggle, the teenager bit the officer on the forearm. When the teen refused to let go, the officer used his Taser on him and he was taken into custody.

Sherwin says the bite broke the skin of the officer's arm so he went to St Marys Hospital to be checked out and treated.

The teenager is expected to be charged with felony assault. It’s not known what the warrant was for.
