Rochester Woman Admits to Malicious Punishment Charge
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester woman has admitted to a gross misdemeanor charge in a child abuse case.
29-year-old Le’Sha Boyd pleaded guilty Monday to a charge of malicious punishment of a child through a deal with prosecutors that resulted in the dismissal of a misdemeanor domestic assault charge.
Boyd was brought to court last year after Rochester police received a report that she had disciplined a young boy with a belt and kept him locked in a closet. When officers arrived at the residence, the boy was found in a closet with a bruise on his forehead. He later told an investigator the woman had beaten him with a belt. He also claimed Boyd caused him to fall down some steps when he tried to run away from her and he suffered the bruise on his forehead when he collided with a gate during an attempt to escape.
Boyd was sentenced to two years on probation.
