Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) - Rochester Public Utilities issued an advisory Tuesday concerning a scam targeting customers of the municipal utility.

The advisory says the scammer is using technology to make it appear the call is coming from RPU and claims that the person on the receiving end of the call has a bill that’s past due and their service will be disconnected if a payment is not immediately made over the phone.

RPU officials advise that you hang up if you receive a call from anyone threatening to cut off your power and then report the incident to RPU at 507-280-1500.
