SE Minnesota Jeep-Dump Truck Collision Sends Man to Hospital
Eitzen, MN (KROC-AM News)- An Iowa man was hospitalized as the result of a collision involving a Jeep and dump truck near the Minnesota-Iowa border Thursday afternoon.
The State Patrol responded to the crash at the intersection of Hwy. 76 and Main St. in the Houston County town of Eitzen. The collision was reported shortly after 4:30 p.m.
The state crash report says the dump truck, driven by 71-year-old Duane Arthur Beckman of Caledonia, was traveling north on Hwy. 76 when it and the Jeep, which was traveling west on Main St., collided in the intersection. The Jeep driver, identified as 67-year-old Paul Matthew Burgess of New Albin, IA, suffered what are being described as non-life-threatening injuries.
He was taken to a La Crosse hospital for further treatment. The dump truck driver was not hurt.
Both drivers were buckled up and alcohol was not a factor in the crash, the report says. The Houston County Sheriff’s Office, Caledonia Ambulance and Eitzen Fire Department also responded to the crash.
