We had some pretty wicked lightning yesterday in one of the first thunderstorms of the season. I heard some lightning strikes at my house that were incredible, and the thunder rolled forever. Several buildings were damaged across the state of Minnesota, including a possible lightning strike at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival site. A fire destroyed several buildings.

Yesterday, I saw on the Cloquet Area Fire District Facebook page that a house "was likely" hit by lightning. Crews responded because there was smoke inside the home. Significant damage was found in both the interior and exterior of the home. The yard was also damaged.

This tree also had fresh markings of the bolt going through it.

A neighbor across the street actually caught the lightning strike on their doorbell camera. Wow! This is crazy footage. I reached out to Felycia, who gave us permission to share the video. Pretty wild stuff. Make sure to turn your audio on. It's a loud boom, it sounds like a bomb went off.

Felycia said the strike was super loud and knocked stuff off their walls. Scary stuff! No injuries were reported in the lightning strike, but the homeowners are going to have some repair work to do.
