Caught in the Act: Rochester Police Find Weapons During Arrest of Rochester Shed Burglars

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Two homeless men are in custody after a Rochester property owner caught them inside of his shed.

That’s according to Rochester Police Department Communications Coordinator Amanda Grayson, who says officers responded to the property around 11:00 Tuesday morning. 

The owner told police he had caught two men inside of his unlocked shed and discovered tools and motors he was storing in the shed had been stacked next to the door.

Suspected Rochester Shed Burglars Caught With Weapons, Police Say

The reported burglary-in-progress occurred on a property in a wooded area south of Think Bank in the 1650 block of Greenview Dr. Southwest, the police report says. 

Both of the men stated they were in the shed to try and get out of the rain even though it was not raining, Grayson says. 

The suspected burglars left the property but were caught by responding officers in a wooded area near the shed. Police identified the men as 31-year-old Caleb Permann and 47-year-old Jeremy Kirkham. 

Grayson says Kirkham was in possession of a BB gun that replicated a pistol and Permann had a set of brass knuckles on him at the time of the arrests. 

Olmsted County Adult Detention Center records indicate the men were booked into the jail around 12:45 p.m. Grayson says both men could face multiple charges, including felony burglary.
