The report shows although it was one of the shortest seasons on record, the number of lockages was only about 100 fewer than in 2013 - 2,574 in 2013 vs 2,452 in 2014.

The amount of commodities locked through Lock and Dam 2 in Hastings by commercial barges was nearly 6.9 million tons, which was 659,000 higher than the year before.

The report notes the season unofficially ended November 20. The season opened April 14th.

The report says the season was affected by a historically late start, summer floods and emergency dredging and it finished with the earliest closure at Lock and Dam 2 since 1970.
