Southeast Minnesota Crash Sends Four People to Hospital
Austin, MN (KROC-AM News)- Four people were taken to a hospital following a multi-vehicle crash in southeastern Minnesota Thursday afternoon.
The State Patrol says the two-vehicle collision was reported shortly after 4:15 p.m. It happened on Hwy. 218 in Mower County about six miles north of Austin.
The state crash report indicates a southbound Honda sedan and a northbound Chevy Sedan collided at the intersection of Hwy. 218 and 270th St. Four people all from Austin were in the Honda and the driver was the lone occupant in the Chevy.
The Honda driver has been identified as 20-year-old Yesler Ariel Garcia Amador. He and two of his passengers, identified as 23-year-old Johana Eusebia Angulo Mairena and 27-year-old Areysi Antonio Jarquin Castro were all brought from the scene to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester for treatment of what are being described as non-life-threatening injuries.
A third passenger in the Honda was not hurt. The Chevy was driven by 47-year-old Eric John Heusinkveld of New Richland, MN. He was also taken to St. Mary’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The report indicates Amador, Mairena and Heusinkveld were buckled up. It’s unknown if Castro and the uninjured passenger were wearing their seatbelts. Alcohol was not involved in the two-vehicle collision, the report says.
The Mower County Sheriff’s Office, Austin Fire Department, Mayo Clinic Ambulance and Mayo Clinic Helicopter also responded to the crash.
