Southeast Minnesota Residents Warned of Man Casing Homes for Burglary and Theft Opportunities

The Winona County Sheriff’s Office says the suspect will drive to a person’s home, often in rural areas, and knock on the door.

If a person answers, the suspect will make up a reason for knocking. If no one is home, the suspect will enter the residence and steal property.

Authorities say there are no recent reports of the man entering homes in rural southeast Minnesota. The suspect is described as a 69-year-old black man. He is 5, 10”, 215 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Officials say he is known to law enforcement and has been connected to a maroon Jaguar with Minnesota license plates and a light blue Chrysler Town and Country.

Winona County officials say the man does not have any active arrest warrants and has not been charged in connection with any burglary-related crimes.

Authorities are sharing the information to ask residents to be on the lookout for the suspicious activity and to ask anyone who may have encountered the scheme to contact local law enforcement.
