Southeast Minnesota Town Getting its First Ever Aldi
Aldi is consistently ranked as one of the best and most affordable places to grocery shop in the country. We have quite a few locations across Minnesota (80, to be exact), but soon it'll be 81!
Aldi is One of the Best and Most Affordable Grocery Stores
Over the past year, Aldi has always been named one of the best places to get your groceries.
US News and World Report came out with their 10 cheapest grocery stores in the US. I wrote about their report from 2024 that said Aldi was the number one most affordable grocery store. This year, they're in the number 5 spot.

There's one town in Minnesota that hasn't been able to take advantage of the greatness that is Aldi. But soon, they'll finally have one of their own!
Albert Lea is Getting Their First Ever Aldi
Right now, Albert Lea's closest Aldi is 30 minutes away in Austin. Not great. But Albert Lea is finally going to have an Aldi of their own.
I can't believe a town like Albert Lea doesn't have an Aldi yet, but here we are!
At the end of April, the City of Albert Lea shared on Instagram that they had just issued a building permit to Aldi and construction had begun.
I haven't been able to find a hopeful opening date but Aldi has big expansion plans for 2025. They plan to open 225 stores this year, so I would think the goal is to open in Albert Lea this year.
Albert Lea's Aldi will be located near the intersection of Blake Avenue and East Main Street, according to the Albert Lea Tribune.
