Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Rochester police arrested a man who fired two shots outside an apartment complex Tuesday night.

The incident in the 1600 block of 10th St SE began around 10:30 pm when the man knocked on an apartment door.

He asked the tenant who answered the door if a certain person was there. The tenant told him he had never heard of the person and shut the door. The stranger kept knocking several times before returning to his vehicle in the parking lot.

The man was still there when the tenant’s girlfriend showed up. The tenant was standing with his girlfriend in the parking lot when the stranger pulled a handgun from his waistband. He took the magazine out of the gun, hugged the tenant and returned to his vehicle. That’s when he reloaded the gun and fired a shot into the air. As he drove away he fired another round.

The tenant called 911 and gave a description of the suspect’s vehicle. An officer spotted it nearby and detained the suspect. After a 9mm gun was found in his car, the man was arrested.

The man was identified as 31-year-old Justin Jolly, who has addresses in Austin and Iowa.
