Store staff reported seeing a woman, who is named in the complaint but not currently charged, walking around the store’s gun section with a man later identified as 29-year-old Dyreese Kentrell Brown.
Brown was seen leading the woman around the gun section and pointing out various firearms. The woman then bought two handguns and Brown immediately took them as the two left the store, the complaint says.
Rochester police saw surveillance footage of the two getting into a vehicle registered to Brown. After conducting surveillance on Brown’s residence, investigators executed a search warrant at Brown’s home on Monday.
Police found both of the handguns along with a loaded Glock magazine, boxes of 9mm and 10mm ammunition and an open tray of 9mm ammunition in various locations throughout the residence, according to the court document.
Court records indicate Brown has prior convictions of ineligible person in possession of a firearm and simple robbery in Olmsted County, convictions that prohibit him from possessing a firearm.
Brown is charged with possession of a firearm and ammo as a person convicted of a violent crime. He was released without bail following his first court appearance on Tuesday and is due back in court in April.
