Update 7-26 11:55 A.M. Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A strong thunderstorm Wednesday morning brought much-needed rain and power outages to Rochester

The line of thunderstorms moved into southeastern Minnesota around 7 a.m. The National Weather Service reported the storm system brought wind speeds ranging from 45-55 mph with it. 

Preliminary rain totals from the National Weather Service indicate Rochester saw between 0.25 and 1.52 inches of rain. The official rainfall tally at the Rochester Airport came out to 0.38 inches. Over 2.5 inches of rain was reported in Millville.

The storm left over 1,000 Rochester Public Utilities (RPU) customers without power. The outages were reported between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m.

The bulk of the outages appear to be concentrated in an area of northwest Rochester north of Hwy. 14. Olmsted County scanner traffic indicated RPU crews were stationed throughout the city to address the outages. There were also reports of tree limbs taking down and connecting with power lines. 

RPU crews restored power to the majority of its impacted customers before 10 a.m.

As of 8:30 a.m. Rochester Public Utilities (RPU) says over 1,000 customers are without power. The outages were reported between 7:15 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. 

The bulk of the outages appear to be concentrated in an area of northwest Rochester north of Hwy. 14. Olmsted County scanner traffic indicates RPU crews are stationed throughout the city to address the outages.

Crews have reported tree limbs have been dislodged and have come into contact with power lines at several locations throughout the city. RPU has not shared an update regarding a timeline for power restoration.
