Sun Country Airlines Just Added More Direct Flights From MN

If you're looking to get out of Minnesota, Sun Country Airlines just added more direct flights from the Land of 10,000 Lakes.

In case you missed it earlier this week, Minnesota's biggest hometown airline, Sun Country, just threw down the gauntlet at its Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) counterpart (that would be Delta Airlines, btw) and announced it was adding nonstop service to two new destinations.

According to a post on the Sun Country website, the discount airline based here in Minnesota:

We are thrilled to announce nonstop service to two new destinations: Monterey Regional Airport (MRY) in California and Manchester-Boston Regional Airport (MHT) in New Hampshire!

Sun Country said that when these new additions kick in, it will mean that the airline will operate 122 routes serving 108 airports across the United States, Mexico, Central America, Canada, and the Caribbean.

And, Sun Country noted that it's expanding its service to these locations through December 10th, which gives Minnesotans even more time to book those fall (think MEA Weekend) trips.

This is just the latest addition from Sun Country. If you recall, it was just last fall that the airline announced it was adding nonstop service to 10 other destinations from MSP:

Trudeau International Airport (YUL), Montréal, Canada
Pearson International Airport (YYZ), Toronto, Canada
Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ), New Mexico
Billings Logan International Airport (BIL), Montana
Boise Airport (BOI), Idaho
Dulles International Airport (IAD), Virginia/Washington, D.C.
Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR), Grand Rapids, Michigan
Missoula Montana Airport (MSO), Montana
Oakland International Airport (OAK), California
Syracuse Hancock International Airport (SYR), New York

Interestingly enough, Kyle Potter with travel site Thrifty Traveler said on his X (formerly Twitter) page vi aviation site Ishrion Aviation that these new routes 'will not sit well with a certain Atlanta-based airline.' That would be Delta Air Lines, which Potter said is expected to make a 'full response' soon.
