Survey Finds Rising Optimism About Minnesota’s Economy
Undated (KROC-AM News) - A new report shows growing confidence in Minnesota’s economy.
The latest Mid-America Business Conditions Survey of business supply managers shows Minnesota’s overall economic index rose from 52.3 in December to 54.7 last month. Any reading above 50 is considered an indicator of growth during the next few months.
It was the second straight month Minnesota’s overall index has been above 50, and the 54.7 reading for January was the highest since March 2015. Every component of the index was above 50 last month and the employment component of the index for January was especially robust at 57.2.
The author of the respected report says the data shows durable goods manufacturers continued to shed jobs last month, but that is being offset by solid gains among food processors and other non-durable goods producers.
