Update: Police ID Suspect Who Rammed Squad Cars in Busy Rochester Area

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester police say a man wanted by authorities in Dakota County smashed into the three vehicles, including two police vehicles, while attempting to avoid capture earlier today.

Police Department spokesperson Amanda Grayson says the incident occurred around noon near West Circle Drive. Preliminary reports indicate the suspect fled in a vehicle and crashed into the two squad cars and a third vehicle before he abandoned his vehicle and tried to flee on foot.

Grayson says he was apprehended near the intersection of West Circle Drive and 41st Street Northwest. The site is near the Mayo Clinic Credit Union, where a customer reported that a "lockdown" was ordered until the situation was resolved.

No serious injuries were reported. The name of the suspect and other details concerning the incident have not been released.
