Olmsted County Deputies Respond to Suspicious Person Spotted Near Byron School
Byron, MN (KROC-AM News)- Law enforcement responded to the report of a suspicious person at the Byron High School on Thursday.

Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Malinda Hanson says the call for service came in shortly after 11:15 a.m.
A note sent to district families by Byron Schools Superintendent Dr. Mike Neubeck says a staff member had spotted the individual, who is not associated with the school, in close proximity to the school grounds.
Person Dressed in All Black Near Byron High School Prompts Law Enforcement Response
Neubeck says administration then followed protocol and promptly contacted the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office. Hanson said the person was reported to be dressed in all black and was wearing a backpack.
Deputies found and identified the person away from the school grounds. Both Hanson and Neubeck say the school was never threatened at any time.
“We appreciate the swift action and assistance from the Sheriff's Office in ensuring the safety of our school community,” Neubeck wrote in the email to families.
Parents,I want to inform you about a situation that occurred today near Byron High School. A staff member reported seeing an individual who is not associated with our school in close proximity to the property. In response, our administration followed protocols and promptly notified the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office, who arrived on the scene and located the individual off school grounds.I am pleased to report that all students and staff are safe and there was no threat to the school at any time. We appreciate the swift action and assistance from the Sheriff's Office in ensuring the safety of our school community.Thank you for your continued support and trust. The name of the individual spotted near the school has not been released.
