Rochester Teen Facing Felony for Allegedly Fleeing Rochester Officer While Under the Influence of Alcohol
18-year-old Joseph Solomon Albee of Rochester is charged with felony fleeing and misdemeanor DWI.
The complaint says a Rochester police officer tried to pull over a vehicle driven by Albee for a turn signal violation in the area of 1st St. and 6th Ave. NW shortly before 10:30 Friday night.
The officer activated his squad lights and Albee accelerated away after slowly turning westbound onto 1st St. Northwest. Albee ran stop signs and drove at a high rate of speed through the car-lined residential street and also ran multiple stop signs, the complaint says.
The officer deactivated the squad’s siren and lights due to public safety concerns but continued following Albee, the charges say.

Five blocks after the attempted stop, Albee ran a red light at the intersection of 1st St. and 11th Ave. Northwest. The vehicle then went airborne and collided with the rear of a parked and unoccupied vehicle, according to the complaint.
Both Albee and his passenger fled the vehicle on foot. The court document says Albee refused to stop for the chasing officer and was apprehended after additional officers responded and established a perimeter.
Police later found the passenger. He denied being injured in the collision.
Albee was brought to a hospital for a medical evaluation. He gave a statement to police admitting to drinking before the alleged fleeing incident, according to the court document.
Officers found a partially full bottle of vodka in the vehicle, the complaint says. Albee provided a blood sample for testing to law enforcement shortly before 1:00 Saturday morning.
Court records indicate Albee was released without bail following his first court appearance on Monday. His next hearing has not yet been scheduled.
