What are the Chances of Snow in May in Minnesota
What are the odds of snow in May in the Land of 10,000 Lakes? Not even taking into consideration the fact that it was so hot the past few days and over the weekend (breaking records in some parts of the state).

Snow in May is possible but not likely. The Minnesota DNR writes, "Snow that falls in May is typically a novelty."
If snow does fall in May, though, the ground is typically too warm for any of it to accumulate anyway, so it's not like it would stick around. Thank goodness.

Snow Possible in Northwestern Minnesota this Weekend
This weekend could be one of those rare times when a small portion of northwestern Minnesota could see some snowfall.
All across the state, we've been experiencing some crazy heat for this time of year. But then this weekend the temperatures will plummet in comparison and get so low in parts that there could be snow.
An updated estimate that was shared recently shows the far northwestern part of the state possibly getting some snow on Sunday.
It looks like the towns closest to the Canadian border could see 2 inches of snow. However, I can't imagine it would stick around since that area hit around 100 degrees this past weekend. The ground will be way too warm for it to stick.
Still, it's the principle of it.
