Bicyclist Who Died in Van Collision Identified as 63-Year-Old Rochester Man

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The bicyclist who died in a collision with a van over the weekend in northwest Rochester has been identified.

Rochester police responded to the fatality around 7:40 Friday night. The deadly incident occurred at the intersection of 41st St. and West Circle Dr. NW.

A preliminary resort released by a police department spokesperson indicates the bicyclist died from his injuries after being transported to St. Marys Hospital. 

The police report said the driver of the van was not hurt. The fatality is under investigation.

Rochester Bicyclist Who Died in Collision with Van at Intersection of West Circle Dr. & 41st St. NW Identified

Rochester police have identified the bicyclist as Todd Steven Mattson of Rochester. He was 63 years old. 

Mattson was a life-long resident of Rochester. He graduated from Mayo High School in 1981 and spent his working years as a painter, according to the Macken Funeral Home obituary.

He is survived by two daughters, two granddaughters and his mother. Mattson’s family is requesting memorial donations be made to Rochester MN Adult and Teen Challenge in lieu of flowers.
