Moorhead, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is among the agencies investigating the death of a toddler.

Officials in northern Minnesota are describing the death as suspicious. Limited information has been released as of Friday afternoon.

Investigation Underway After Suspicious Death of Moorhead, MN Toddler

A news release issued on Friday by the Moorhead Police Department says the Cass County North Dakota Coroner’s Office informed them of the child’s death shortly before 11:30 Thursday night. 

Police say the toddler was unresponsive when they were taken to a hospital in Fargo. Despite life-saving measures, the 20-month old was pronounced dead at the scene, the news release says. 

Investigators responded to the medical facility and learned the child was living with family at a home in the 1100 block of 18 ½ Street South in Moorhead. 

Officers secured the residence as part of the investigation and requested the BCA to assist with the investigation. 

Police say the toddler’s body has been transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. 

As of Friday afternoon no arrests have been announced. No other details are available.
