The National Weather Service sounded a warning this evening after a possible tornado was spotted in eastern Olmsted County.

The warning went out around 6:30 p.m. after the weather service received reports of a brief touchdown near Dover as a line of strong thunderstorms moved east across southeastern Minnesota. It's unknown if there was any damage from the twister.

A tornado watch remains in effect until 10 p.m. for Fillmore, Houston, Goodhue and portions of Winona Counties.

It appears the heaviest storm damage occurred in parts of northern Iowa and western Wisconsin. The National Weather Service is reporting significant damage to homes in Spring Valley, Wisconsin after a large tornado was spotted moving on the ground across portions of Pierce County in the late afternoon. There have also been reports of heavily damaged homes in the Ellsworth area.

In northeast Iowa, straight line winds knocked down trees and there are reports of rainfall totals approaching inches in some areas.
