Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A resident was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and two dogs died today after a fire broke out in a home in Rochester's Northern Heights neighborhood.

A news release from the Rochester Fire Department indicates the fire was reported around 2:15 PM at 1105 19th Street Northeast, about 2 blocks south of Northern Heights Park. The first firefighters to arrive at the scene discovered smoke coming from multiple locations inside the house.

Flames were found on both the first and second floors and it was also discovered there was a fire burning in the attic. The news release says it appears the fire started on the first floor and traveled up to the attic through a chimney chase.

The cause is under investigation and a dollar estimate of the loss is not yet available.
