Two Minnesota Police Officers Hurt in Encounter With Knife-Wielding Man
St. Anthony, MN (KROC-AM News)- Two Minnesota police officers were hurt following an encounter with a knife-wielding man.
The incident occurred Friday afternoon. Authorities say the man appeared to have been going through a mental health crisis.
A news release issued by the St. Anthony Police Department says officers responded to a report of a man in hood and robe armed with a knife at an apartment complex in St. Anthony shortly after 4 p.m.
It was the third time that day officers had responded to a call regarding the man. The news release says the subject, who officers spotted in a courtyard area, resisted police attempts to bring him into custody.
At one point the individual attempted to disarm the officers, the news release says. The man was eventually brought under control and taken to a hospital for a mental health hold.
Two officers suffered what are described as minor injuries. One of the officers went to a hospital for further care of the minor injury.
The subject’s name has not been released. Details on how the situation was resolved have not been disclosed.
The incident remains under investigation.
