Two national organizations that represent almost 2000 bus, motorcoach, and tour companies in the U.S. have petitioned the Minnesota Supreme Court for permission to file “friend of the court” briefs on behalf of Rochester City Lines.

A statement issued Tuesday by Rochester City Lines says the United Motorcoach Association seeks to address claims of unfair government subsidized competition, while the American Bus Association is petitioning the Supreme Court to present its analysis of RCL’s claims of conflict of interest, bias and contractor predetermination issues in the protracted legal fight over the City of Rochester’s decision to award its public transit contract to another firm two years ago.

The State Supreme Court recently agreed to review lower court decisions in favor of the city. The case is expected to be argued before the high court this fall.
