Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) – Rochester police are investigating another shooting and this one took place in front of two children. In fact, one was almost hit by a bullet.

Police Sgt. Bert Otto says a 24-year-old Rochester man was shot in the left arm while in his car in the parking lot of the 12th St SE KFC store around 7:00 PM Tuesday.

After he was shot, the man drove to the Olmsted Medical Center Clinic on 9th St SE and was taken from there to St. Marys Hospital by ambulance. He underwent surgery and was in stable condition Tuesday evening.

Otto says the man’s girlfriend and his two children - ages 5 years and 10 months - were also in the car. Otto says two other bullets entered the vehicle and one missed the older child by only a foot.

The car the shooter was in was later located but no arrests have been made as of Wednesday morning.

The victim told investigators he had gone to the parking lot to “purchase something” from one of the five men in the car. He got out of his vehicle to meet the man and then apparently realized he was in danger and went back to his car and moments later, shots were fired.

Investigators aren’t sure if this shooting is connected to the one that happened Saturday evening outside the Andover Park Apartments complex. A man was shot twice in that shooting. His injuries were described as non-life threatening.
