Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- A vehicle fire torched a car and spread to the garage at a rural Rochester home on Monday.

The Rochester Fire Department responded to the blaze shortly after 5:15 p.m. Four engines and a tanker truck were among the vehicles that responded to the scene, according to a news release

The preliminary report indicated a vehicle parked three feet from a garage had caught on fire.

Car Fire Draws Large Emergency Response at Rural Southwest Rochester Home

Responding firefighters found a car engulfed in the flames with the source of the fire appearing to be in the area of the engine. 

The fire broke out at a home in the 4400 block of Ettenmoor Ln in rural southwest Rochester

Fire crews knocked down the vehicle fire then protected the garage from continued fire spread. Firefighters contained the fire to the vehicle and the outside of the garage.

No injuries were reported. The car suffered what is described in the news release as significant fire damage and the exterior of the garage suffered minor fire damage.

The cause of the fire was not released. The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office and Mayo Clinic Ambulance also responded to the fire call.
