Weather Closings and Delays in Southeast Minnesota – Wednesday, March 5th

For anyone who wanted one last snowfall, you are getting your wish.  The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for areas in Southeast Minnesota including Rochester, Faribault, Mankato, Red Wing, Albert Lea, Austin and Winona.

Closings and delays for Wednesday, March 5th are being reported for the area due to the anticipated winter storm that will be hitting this area.

Dangerous Winter Weather Expected in Minnesota on Wednesday, March 5th, 2025

An intense weather system is rolling through the United States this week.  According to the National Weather Service, areas of Southeast Minnesota will first see rain with possible thunderstorms.  Due to the ground still being frozen, runoff from the melting snow and accumulating rain could lead to ponding - so be cautious if driving.

The rain will most likely turn into snow around 2:00 am on Wednesday, March 5th.  With that, several inches of snow are expected and high winds, which has the potential for blizzard conditions.
