Strong northerly winds, gusting as high as 50 mph, are predicted to pick up during the overnight snowfall, causing blowing and drifting snow and limited visibility.

Rural roads are expected to quickly deteriorate and become treacherous as the snow falls. Officials say travelers who become stranded could face life-threatening conditions.

The latest forecast calls for 6-10 inches of snow in Rochester and Faribault by Wednesday afternoon. The Blizzard Warning begins at midnight and is scheduled to expire by 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
