The Winona County Jail Roster indicates retired NFL defensive lineman Everson Griffen was booked into the Winona County Jail shortly after 9 p.m.

The list of crash victims from Monday includes a 16-year-old boy.

The State Patrol says the driver and his passengers were all from Illinois.

A preliminary investigation conducted by the Winona County Sheriff's Office indicated the pilot experienced Injun troubles and was attempting an emergency landing.

He was flying what federal authorities have described as an “Airborne Windsports Microlight aircraft,” which is similar to a motorized hang glider.

The Winona Fire Department says crews located the crash scene near the runway. The pilot was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving measures.

Firefighters responding to the airport, located at 106 Galewski Dr., encountered one person at the scene of the crash.

That’s according to the State Patrol which responded to the two-vehicle crash shortly before 10 a.m.

The State Patrol responded to the car-motorcycle collision shortly before 5:15 p.m. on Saturday. The car driver was the only occupant of that vehicle.

One of the drivers was transporting two children. The young passengers escaped the crash without injuries, according to the State Patrol.

A 2nd man convicted in the case is scheduled to be sentenced next month.

A gun was also found during a search of his vehicle following a routine traffic stop.
