Winona, MN (KROC-AM News)- Two southeast Minnesota residents were injured in a crash near Winona Thursday afternoon.

The State Patrol responded to the collision around 5:30 p.m. Two vehicles were involved.

One of the drivers was transporting two children. The young passengers escaped the crash without injuries, according to the State Patrol.

Man & Woman Hurt After SUV's Collide at Hwy. 43 Intersection Near Winona

The crash occurred at the intersection of Hwy. 43 and Gillmore Valley Rd.

A Subaru SUV and Chevy SUV, both heading south away from Winona on Hwy. 43, collided at the intersection, the state crash report says. 

40-year-old Scott Vernon Ehlenfeldt of St. Charles was driving the Chevy and 39-year-old Angela Sue Weber of Winona was identified as the Subaru driver. 

Both motorists suffered non-life-threatening injuries. They were taken to the hospital in Winona for further care, according to the State Patrol. 

Alcohol Suspected

The children, ages two and three, were riding with Weber. All three occupants in Weber’s vehicle were buckled and she did not have alcohol in her system, the State Patrol says. 

Ehlenfeldt was not wearing a seatbelt and was suspected to have alcohol in his system, according to the state crash report. The report does not say which vehicle was leading.

The Winona County Sheriff's Office, Wilson Fire and Winona Area Ambulance also responded to the two-vehicle collision.
