Wind Advisory Issued for Parts of Minnesota, Wisconsin & Iowa
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Predicted gusty conditions have prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Wind Advisory for the Rochester area.
The advisory is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Friday and end at 3 a.m. Saturday. Forecasters are predicting westerly winds blowing between 20 and 30 mph with gusts as high as 50 mph in areas of southern Minnesota, western Wisconsin and northern Iowa.
The expected strong winds are capable of blowing around unsecured objects, snapping off tree limbs and causing power outages, the advisory says. A light snowfall is also predicted during the wind advisory, which officials say could reduce visibility on the region’s roads.
The National Weather Service is asking motorists, especially those driving high-profile vehicles, to use caution while traveling. They’re also asking residents to secure any loose objects.
