No Travel Advisory Issued for Several Major Minnesota Highways
Undated (KROC-AM News)- Some Minnesotans are receiving a harsh reminder that winter is still here.
A winter storm is bashing the northern swath of the state. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the majority of counties along the Minnesota-Canada Border and the Minnesota North-Dakota Border.
At 7:45 Tuesday morning MnDOT issued a No Travel Advisory for seven major highways in the northwestern part of the state. Officials say visibility along those roads has been reduced to the point of travel becoming dangerous.
Motorists are advised to stay home until the strong winds in the area die down. State Patrol Public Information Officer Sgt. Jesse Grabow says troopers have responded to several reports of vehicles going off the road during Tuesday morning’s commute.
The winter-weather caused No Travel Advisory in northern Minnesota comes one day after many communities in the southern part of the state, including Rochester and Austin, experienced record-high temperatures.

Winter weather is set to return to southeast Minnesota in the form of a large cold front moving into the area Tuesday night. That front is expected to bring sub-zero wind chills to the area and light snow accumulations of less than one inch across southeastern Minnesota.
Wind Chills in the Rochester area are predicted to plummet as low as 11 below zero by Wednesday morning and as cold as 14 below in Faribault and 13 below in Austin.
It does appear the arctic blast in southeast Minnesota will be short-lived. The National Weather Service’s forecast calls for high temperatures to rebound into the mid 40’s to low 50’s by Thursday and climb as high as the mid 60’s by the weekend.
