Wisconsin Man Gets 20 Years for Shooting at Minnesota Cop
Caledonia, MN (KROC AM News) - A Wisconsin man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for shooting a shotgun at a La Crescent police officer last summer.
20-year-old Wyatt Helfrich of Holmen was driving a car that was pulled over near La Crescent in the early morning hours of July 31st. As two officers approached his vehicle, Helfrich fired at one of them and then drove off. The two officers fired at the vehicle and then began a long, high-speed chase that ended near Caledonia.
Helfrich and a passenger - 20-year-old William Wallraff of Kellogg, Minnesota - fled on foot after the car crashed but were apprehended.
Wallraff was sentenced earlier to 13-years in prison.
