First Time The F-35C Has Been At The Duluth Airshow
There are different variants of the F-35, and this will be the first time the naval variant (F-35C) will perform in Duluth. The F-35c has a stronger landing gear and is designed to be able to land on aircraft carriers. It's a supersonic stealth fighter and can reach speeds up to Mach 1.6 with a full arsenal.
"We are incredibly honored to have the US Navy F-35C perform a demonstration along with a Legacy Flight this Summer," said Airshow President Ryan Kern. "We have never had the Naval variant of the F-35 at our show do a full on demonstration so we consider ourselves very fortunate and blessed to have them here this Summer including an F-4U Corsair as part of the Navy Legacy Flight."
Navy Legacy Flight
Legacy flights are when a classic fighter airplane does a flyover with its modern counterpart. For example, in the past, I've seen a P-51 Mustang fly with an F-22 Raptor. It's an ode to our military's and veterans' legacy, and it's very cool to see.

This year, the F-35C will fly alongside the F-4U Corsair. The F-4 was developed during World War II and helped win the fight in the Pacific Theater. It had the most powerful engine at the time, with an 18-cylinder engine delivering 2,000 HP.
Full Lineup Of Other Performers
Joining the F-35C Demonstration team is a full lineup of performers including:
- US Navy Blue Angels
- Canadaian Forces Snowbirds
- Air Force F-22 Demonstration Team
- P-38 Lightning
- US Army Golden Nights
