Young Man Saved from Drowning at Rochester Park
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- Rochester Police are praising a beach-goer’s quick action in saving a young man’s life at a Rochester Park.

Police Lt. Jennifer Hodgeman said officers responded to Foster-Arend Park on the report of a drowning. The call came in around 2 p.m. Thursday.
Upon arrival officers found a group of people surrounding a man pulled from the water. One individual began life saving measures and successfully revived the swimmer, who was described to be in his 20’s.
The swimmer was evaluated by a Mayo Clinic Ambulance crew. Hodgeman said it's unknown if he required further medical care.
The heroic citizen told police the young swimmer went under water near a drop off. He said he went to the area the swimmer was last seen above the surface and found him at the bottom of the water.
The man said he then retrieved the swimmer and brought him to shore where he began life-saving measures. Hodgeman says police hope to identify the citizen and honor him for his actions at the beach.
