4-Year-Old, 9-Year-Old Among 3 Dead in Minnesota Park Incident

Ramsey, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities have identified the woman and two children who died as the result of an incident in a Minnesota park earlier this week.

Information released to the public regarding the April 8 incident continues to be limited. 

The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office previously stated that deputies responded to a welfare check at Rum River Central Park in Ramsey, which is about 30 miles northwest of Minneapolis, around 10:30 Monday morning. 

Responding deputies found a dead woman and girl in a parked vehicle. First responders also found an injured boy, who was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

On Thursday morning the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office identified the children as 4-year-old Laiken Lea Frank and 9-year-old Solara Rea Frank. The woman has been identified as 33-year-old Jessica Linette Frank. 

The woman, girl and boy are all from Monticello. 

A letter sent to families by Twin Lakes Elementary School in Elk River that was obtained by KARE 11 indicates Laiken is the younger brother of Solara.

Anoka County authorities have not released an official cause of death, however the Star Tribune is reporting the mother and siblings were found fatally shot. Initial dispatch traffic also indicated a shooting had taken place. 

Authorities have previously described the deaths as an isolated incident and have said they’re not looking for any suspects. 

The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office, Ramsey Police Department and Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office are continuing the death investigation.
