Jury Finds Rochester Man Guilty of Murder Near Vikings Stadium
Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - A jury in Minneapolis has returned a guilty verdict against a Rochester man accused of a murder near US Bank Stadium in 2022.
29-year-old Idris Abdillahi Haji-Mohamed was convicted of two counts of second-degree murder for the death of 26-year-old Jeremy Ellis of Plymouth. The criminal complaint says the victim was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds inside a vehicle on December 30, 2022.
The court document says Minneapolis police obtained a description of Haji-Mohamed and took him into custody after he was spotted leaving an apartment complex near the site of the shooting. He told investigators he was the registered owner of the vehicle that contained the victim’s body.

The charges say the Rochester man stated that he was buying drugs from Ellis when the other man ordered him out of the vehicle at gunpoint. Haji-Mohamed told investigators he then shot at the vehicle as it was reversing away from him.
The criminal complaint also indicates Minneapolis police found seven $100 bills in the passenger seat of the vehicle and a handgun wedged between the driver’s seat and the center console. Five spent .40 caliber shell casings were also found in the area of the deadly shooting.
Haji-Mohamed still faces a first-degree murder charge in Clayton County, where he is accused of a 2021 murder in Moorhead. Court records show he had been released on bail and had disabled a GPS tracking device shortly before the murder in Minneapolis occurred.

He is scheduled to be sentenced for the Minneapolis murder next month. A trial date in the northwestern Minnesota murder case has yet to be scheduled.
His criminal history also includes involvement in a shooting in Rochester in 2017. The police report on the incident described it as a gun battle between two groups of people in the parking lot of the Olive Garden Restaurant. Haji-Mohamed was charged with attempted murder in that case but ended up pleading guilty to a lesser charge.
