Mayowood bridge project starts today

Work is scheduled to begin today on the Mayowood Bridge project in southwest Rochester. T

he bridge was closed in 2006 due to safety concerns. Lunda Construction will oversee the $3.4 million project, which calls for demolition of the current bridge and construction of a new one. It will be wider than the current bridge, which was built in 1934 and include shoulders and a sidewalk. The project also calls for repairing the dam located at the site. The project is scheduled to be completed by late November.
