
Three Missing After Pontoon Boat Overturns on Lake Pepin
Pepin, WI (KROC-AM News) - A large-scale search effort is underway on Lake Pepin following a boating accident late Saturday night.
Search Ongoing Following Late-Night Boating Accident
A news release issued by the Wabasha County Sheriff's Office says three people are missing following an incident in which a pontoon boat overturned. The statement says the Pepin County, Wisconsin, Sheriff's Office received a 911 call at approximately 10:45 p.m. reporting that people were screaming for help on the lake.
3 Survivors Found With Boat, 3 Others Missing
The Wabasha County Sheriff's Office says first responders arrived at the scene and located the overturned pontoon boat just offshore from the YMCA Camp on Deer Island on the Wisconsin side of the Mississippi River. They found three survivors clinging to the pontoon boat, and those individuals reported that three other occupants of the boat were missing.

Multi-Agency Search Continues on Lake Pepin
A large-scale search and rescue operation was launched involving numerous law enforcement, fire, and emergency response agencies from Wisconsin and Minnesota. The effort is utilizing rescue boats, drones, helicopters, and other specialized search resources.

The Sheriff's Office says that, as of 10:30 a.m. Sunday, the search effort is ongoing.
The news release notes that, while the incident occurred near the Deer Island YMCA Camp, no campers or camp staff were involved in the boating incident.
