48 Year Old Rochester Man Sentenced For Raping Teenage Runaway
Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man is expected to spend nearly a decade in prison for sexually assaulting a teenage girl after she ran away from home.
Rochester police were called last April to look for the 14-year-old girl after she was reported missing by her family. Court records indicate that officers located the juvenile after she was spotted running north from the Kwik Trip store located at the intersection of 12th Street and 3rd Avenue Southeast. She told the officers that she had encountered a man near the nearby KFC restaurant and it appeared he had a pistol hanging out of one of his pockets.
The criminal complaint filed against 48-year-old Pacomia Campos-Cano alleged that he forced her to accompany him to his home by threatening to shoot her. The charges alleged that he then ordered her to remove her clothing and then forcibly undressed her and sexually assaulted her.
The victim told police she managed to escape after her attacker went into the backyard at the residence. Court documents indicate the police officers went to that address and found Campos-Cano lying in the yard next to a 12 pack of beer.
Campos-Cano was charged with one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. Earlier this month, he entered a Norgaard plea to the charge, which means he admitted he is guilty but he also has no memories of his actions due to his intoxication.
Court records also show that he was previously charged with a gross misdemeanor count criminal sexual conduct for allegedly groping a woman in a Rochester Park in November 2023.

Campos-Cano was sentenced this morning in Olmsted County Court to more than 14 years in prison. With credit for time served and good behavior, he could be eligible for release after serving about 9 1/2 years behind bars.
