Lanesboro, MN (KROC-AM News)- The Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a fire that killed multiple dogs, injured two people and destroyed a home in southeastern Minnesota.

First responders were called to the house fire in Fillmore County shortly after 6:20 Monday morning. 

A news release issued by the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy was among the emergency personnel who responded to the scene and found the home had been a total loss.

Rural Lanesboro Fire Kills 5 Dogs, Leaves 2 People Injured & Destroys Home

The fire broke out at a home in the 35000 block of Flag Rd., which is about eight miles north of Lanesboro. 


Authorities say two adults inside of the home at the time of the fire had escaped the house. They suffered what are being described as minor injuries. 

There were also six dogs inside of the home. Five of them were killed in the fire, the news release says. 

The investigation indicates the fire did not start under suspicious circumstances. The cause of the fire and a dollar estimate of the damage it caused are not available.
