Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Plan B has been announced for a popular Rochester summertime event.

Riverside Concerts had to call off its popular Down By The Riverside Sunday evening outdoor shows at the Mayo Civic Center earlier this year due to COVID-19 concerns.

It is now offering an alternative:  “drive-in” concerts.

The seven-week series of "Car Park Concerts" will be held Wednesday evenings (7:00 PM) from July 15 - Aug 26th in the parking lot of the 125 Live community center.

Riverside Concerts says “the events will be "drive-in" style concert experiences where you watch the show from your vehicle, hear the music over your car stereo, while maintaining adherence to social distancing guidelines.”

While there is no charge to attend, reservations will be required.

Attendees must call the Riverside Concerts office (507.328.2200) one week prior to each scheduled event to request an email reservation for the show. Reservations will be distributed on a first-come-first-served basis.

"We at Riverside concerts were deeply saddened when we got the news that we would have to cancel "Down by the Riverside" and the "forWARD" park concerts due to the city's suspension of large-scale events on city grounds through August 16th. But when the governor asked the state to get creative and innovate, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work. We are very pleased to be partnering with our long time friends Think Bank, Rochester Park and Rec, and 125 Live to make these events happen." Steven Schmidt, General Manager
