Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) -  The Olmsted County Board has approved a recommendation to give property owners an extra 30 days to pay their second-half property taxes.

Tuesday’s action means the second-half payments can be made by December 15th with no penalties or interest. The payments are normally due November 15th.

The board also gave property owners a break earlier this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It extended the due date for first-half payments from May 15th to July 15th because of the financial hardships many property owners were dealing with.

As in the earlier delay, property owners with escrow accounts are not eligible for the penalty-free extension.

The County Board was told “other local taxing jurisdictions are supportive of an extension of the property tax payment date.”
