Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A shop area at a rural Rochester residence was heavily damaged by a fire Wednesday.

Rochester fire crews were sent to a home at 1911 50th Ave. SE around 4:30 PM and found smoke and flames in the rear part of a detached residential garage.


The fire was contained to the detached garage and attached shop area of the building. The shop area sustained heavy fire damage while the garage was limited to heat and smoke damage. The estimated loss was put at $50,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
