St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Minnesota Department of Health today reported nine additional coronavirus related deaths and one of them involved a resident of southeastern Minnesota.

The individual was in their 70s and lived in Mower County. It was the third coronavirus related death reported in Mower County since the start of the pandemic.

State health officials say 359 new COVID-19 infections were detected by the approximately 7400 tests completed Monday for a positivity rate of 4.8-percent. Olmsted County reported only eight new cases and had a positivity rate below 2-percent.

The number of people currently hospitalized due to COVID-19 moved back above 300 today, increasing 18 from yesterday to 304. The number of ICU beds used by COVID patients dropped by one to 154.
